Recent Events of the Rotary Club of Alviso

February 27, 2010: Alviso Rotary Crab Feed, South Bay Yacht Club of Alviso, CA.

This year’s Crab Feed was a smashing success. The sold-out event raised much-needed money for the David Hoxie 2010 Educational Fund, which will be put to good use helping local students.

January 7, 2009: Alviso Rotary Open House, Taco Del Oro Restaurant, 5220 N 1st St, Alviso, 5:30-7:00pm.

Graduate students and Professor Rick Kos from the Department of Urban Planning at San Jose State University presented the results of a semester-long assessment of the community of Alviso. They welcome feedback from the community as they go into the second semester of their study this January.

January 6, 2009:

San Jose City Council member for District 4 — and Alviso Rotary Club member — Kansen Chu addressed the club. We’ve put up a page with some notes from his remarks.

December 17, 2008: Alviso Rotary Open House, Taco Del Oro Restaurant, 5220 N 1st St, Alviso, 5:30-7:00pm

Volunteers from The Tech Museum of Innovation will presented “Leonardo: 500 Years into the Future.” Rotarians and members of the Alviso community enjoyed this informational presentation.

December 13, 2008: Santa Visits Alviso.

The Rotary Club of Alviso was on hand to give popcorn and balloons to the children of Alviso. Photos to be posted soon.

December 6, 2008: Book Sale with the Friends of the Alviso Library.

Oct. 4, 2008: Steps for Success.

Once again, the Alviso Rotary Club joined the Santa Clara Rotary Club as they handed out shoes and books to underprivileged children for the new school year. The Alviso Rotarians provided socks, pencils, and lollipops for the children.

Dec. 15, 2007: Santa Visits Alviso Santa visited the children of Alviso. The Alviso Rotary Club handed out popcorn, pencils, and candy canes to Alviso children during the entertainment. Feliz Navidad!

Oct. 20, 2007: Alviso Rotary Club had a fundraiser with eWaste collection, which also helps the Alviso community.

Oct. 13, 2007: Alviso Rotary Club's Spaghetti Feed was held to raise funds for the teachers at George Mayne Elementary School. The teachers will use these funds toward classroom activities.

Oct. 6, 2007: We gave out socks and popcorn to the Alviso children at the George Manye Elementary School as part of “Steps for Success.’
